what a storm!

i woke up this morning at around 1am because an incredible storm was brewing outside! lightening and thunder abounded, i almost even got scared. but alas i didnt and fell back asleep. but man, i swear one lightning must have been right above the town because the crack of thunder that followed shook the house! not that that takes a whole lot, as my house is built similar to a kind of shack. and the tin like roof enhances the sound of the rain, but i didn't mind ... so much!

rode my bike through town yesterday to go to the store and develop my pictures. everything in this country is smaller! the people, the roads, the houses, and even the pictures! they were tiny ... hee, but quick, only 30 minutes to develop!

so i finally talked to my neighbors a bit yesterday. found out their name is nakamura (i think). the wife is really nice and brought me a bag of potatoes, although, i don't know what one person is supposed to do with a whole bag of potatoes without them going bad first. i'm still trying to finish up the tomatoes she gave me!

i finally cooked my first meal last night. nothing much, just some yakisoba (noodles) but it was good. felt good to cook, hope to do more of it while im here.

You could make a bunch of mash potatoes and then you could make up potatoe pancakes and then freeze them. Or you could make a bunch of mashed potatoes and share them with your neighbors! haha
